Plainville Composting Facilitycompost area

The Plainville Municipal Collection Program does not pick up yard waste. Residents must deliver their materials to the compost drop off area or compost at their homes. Compost Bins are available for purchase at the Town Hall. The cost is $35. Learn more about backyard composting.

The compost drop-off area is located at the Highway Garage at 29 West Bacon Street.

Hours

April to November

Mondays, 8 am to 3 pm

Saturdays, 8 am to 3 pm

December, January & March

Mondays, 8 am to 3 pm

Saturdays, 8 am to 1 pm

Closed the month of February.

Yard waste is allowed from Plainville residential properties only. No commercial vehicles or landscapers are allowed.

Acceptable materials include:

  • Leaves, grass and other rakeable yard waste.
  • Brush and branches less than 3 inches wide.
  • Christmas trees - remove decorations, tinsel, garland and plastic bags. (Seasonal)
  • Pumpkins/Jack-o'-lanterns - Remove candle, paint, glitter. (Seasonal)
  • Unacceptable materials include:
    • Stumps
    • Trees
    • Branches larger than 3 inches wide
    • Lumber
    • Railroad and landscaping ties
  • Material may be brought in bulk (pickup trucks or trailers), trash cans, paper or plastic bags. All material must be removed from paper or plastic bags. (Please reuse your bags or place them in the trash cans that are provided.)                                            

North Attleboro Compost Facility

North Attleboro Compost

Effective immediately, the Town of North Attleborough Composting Facility, located on Plain Street, is open for ALL Plainville residents. You do not need to be on the Plainville Municipal Trash Program or have a Recycling Center Pass to utilize the North Attleboro Compost Facility.  You will have to show proof of residency.  Non-residents and commercial vehicles are not allowed and shall be considered trespassing and illegally dumping, which carries a $300 fine.

The compost drop-off area is located on the Plain Street in North Attleboro.

Hours 

Excluding Holidays

Friday -       8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Saturday - 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Sunday -    8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

The Composting Facility shall be open, generally, between April 15th and December 1st (Subject to change due to weather conditions). Hours shall be posted in the newspaper and on the DPW website annually. 

Non-residents, commercial vehicles and landscaping or tree companies are not allowed. Plainville commercial vehicles that have a valid Plainville Recycling Center Pass are allowed.

The Composting Facility is for the disposal of leaves, grass and brush only. Residents may take compost and wood chips (in 5-gallon buckets only) and may take any wood that is left by other residents or Town operations. No Machinery or chain saws are allowed in the facility.
