3) VOTING EARLY BY MAIL:

All voters may choose to vote by mail with no excuse necessary.  The State of Massachusetts sent out postcards to all registered voters the week of January 15th. If you wish to vote by mail, the deadline to apply is 5:00PM on February 27th; however, the Town Clerk and the United States Post Office recommend applying at least 2 weeks prior to election day to make sure your ballot is received back in time to be counted.  All Vote by Mail ballots for the Presidential Primary must be received by 8:00PM on election day.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING ABOUT VOTING BY MAIL

  • Ballots are generally available for mailing 3–4 weeks prior to election day.  All ballots must be mailed: they may not be picked up in person.
  • All applications for Vote by Mail must be signed and dated.
  • If you are registered in a party, you will receive that party's ballot for the Presidential Primary.
  • If you are Unenrolled (aka Independent), you must choose one of the 3 ballot types offered for the Presidential Primary. We cannot send you a Vote by Mail ballot if you do not choose a ballot type. Choosing a ballot type will not change your party.  You will remain Unenrolled.
  • Once you vote and return your Vote by Mail ballot, you may not change your vote or vote again in person. (Voters who do not return their Vote by Mail ballot may appear to vote in person.)
  • All Vote by Mail ballots must be received back by no later than 8:00PM on election day. Postmarks do not count.
  • Vote by Mail ballots may be returned in the postage-paid envelope provided or may be deposited into the secure ballot drop box located just outside the main door to Town Hall.  Ballots may not be hand-delivered to the polls.

If you have questions, please contact the Town Clerk's office at 508-695-3010 ext. 1.
