The mission of the Plainville Fire Department is to provide fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the residents of the town of Plainville 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
There are 28 full-time personnel assigned to the Fire Department. In addition to the day time staff; The Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Department Mechanic and the Fire Prevention Captain there are 4 Shift Captains, 4 Lieutenants, and 16 firefighters. All full-time personnel are either Certified Emergency Medical Technicians or Certified Paramedics. There are 15 on-call / part-time firefighters who supplement the full-time staff when called in "on a box". Of the part-time personnel, all are Certified Emergency Medical Technicians or Certified Paramedics.
The objective of the Plainville Fire Department is to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens through proactive training, preparation, and a solid commitment to standards of excellence while providing safe, effective, and efficient emergency services to the community.
The vision of the Plainville Fire Department is to have the community and its peers recognize the Plainville Fire Department as a true leader in providing the highest quality fire protection, prevention, and emergency medical services available.

- How do I request a public record?

Public records can be requested by submitting a Record Request Form to the department. Paper forms are available in the Public Safety Building lobby. Requests can also be made via email to Kayla McCarthy-Curtis at kmccarthycurtis@fire.plainville.ma.us or via fax at 508-695-6772.

- How do I become a Full Time Department member?

The Plainville Fire Department prefers to hire members that possess an EMT-P certification. We advertise for open positions on multiple platforms including social media.
- How do I become a Call Department member?

To become a member of our Call Department, you must be at least 18 years old and possess your EMT-Basic certification. You the can come down to the station and fill out an application and meet with our Training officer.
- Does Plainville Fire offer CPR certifications?

Yes. Please contact EMS@fire.plainville.ma.us or call the station and speak with the OIC.
- Does Plainville Fire dispose of sharps?

Yes. Please bring them to the station in a hard plastic sealed container.
